Cookeville FFA Member Elected State President for 2013-2014

Sarah Best was elected State FFA President for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. Best is a member of the Cookeville FFA Chapter.

Joining Best to serve as state FFA officers for 2013-2014 are Jeffery Rogers of the Munford FFA Chapter as state vice president-west, Scott Bohanon of the McEwen FFA Chapter as state vice president-middle, Rebekah Wright of the David Crockett FFA Chapter as state vice president-east, Melinda Perkins of the Paris FFA Chapter as state secretary, Colton McClanahan of the Stone FFA Chapter as the state treasurer, Samantha Beard of the Eagleville FFA Chapter as the state reporter, and Rachel Ralston of the Riverdale FFA Chapter as state sentinel.

Sarah will be attending the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and majoring in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Comunications. Her agricultural education instructors and FFA advisors are Danielle Johnson and Jaclyn Vester. For the next year, Best and her state officer peers will be the face and spirit of FFA. Collectively, they will travel thousands of miles throughout the state as they engage top leaders in business, government and education and lead a host of personal growth and leadership training seminars for FFA members. The team will also help set policies that will shape the future of the Tennessee FFA Association and promote agricultural literacy in general.

David Crockett FFA Member Elected State Vice President-East for 2013-2014

Rebekah Wright was elected State FFA Vice President-East for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. Wright is a member of the David Crockett FFA Chapter.

Munford FFA Member Elected State Vice President-West for 2013-2014

McEwen FFA Member Elected State Vice President-Middle for 2013-2014

Melinda Perkins was elected State FFA Secretary for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. Perkins is a member of the Paris FFA Chapter.

Colton McClanahan was elected State FFA Treasurer for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. McClanahan is a member of the Stone FFA Chapter.

Samantha Beard was elected State FFA Reporter for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. Beard is a member of the Eagleville FFA Chapter.

Riverdale FFA Member Elected State Sentinel for 2013-2014

Rachel Ralston was elected State FFA Sentinel for 2013-2014 at the conclusion of the 85th Tennessee State Convention in Gatlinburg. Ralston is a member of the Riverdale FFA Chapter.

Mt. Juliet Wins State Marketing Plan Contest

Members of the Mt. Juliet FFA Chapter won first-place in the Tennessee Association FFA Marketing Plan Career Development Event during the 85th Tennessee State FFA Convention on March 27.

This team will represent Tennessee in the National Marketing Plan Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention in October. The Mt. Juliet agricultural education instructors and FFA advisors are Matthew Farris, Mitzi Pigg, Lindsey Nicholas, and Don Willoughby.

The Marketing Plan CDE helps students practice and sharpen skills in marketing through the development and presentation of a marketing plan. The plan may focus on the introduction of a new agricultural product, supply or service or on improving marketing of an existing product, supply, or service. The Tennessee FFA Foundation sponsored a cash award for expenses related to participation in the national contest.

McNairy Central Wins Farm Business Management Contest

Members of the McNairy Central FFA Chapter won first-place in the Tennessee Association FFA Farm Business Management Career Development Event during the 85th Tennessee State FFA Convention on March 27.

This team will represent Tennessee in the National Farm Business Management Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention in October. The McNairy Central member’s agricultural education instructors and FFA advisors are Rod Barnes and Ben Dodd.

The Farm Business Management CDE is designed to test the ability of students to apply economic principles and concepts in analyzing farm and ranch business management decisions. Participants respond to questions concerning economic principles in farm business management as well as a problem-solving analysis section. Farm Credit Services of Mid-America sponsored a cash award for expenses related to participation in the national contest.
